9. Classmate Blog Critique

Classmate Blog Critique: Lacy Olivarez and Haven Williams

During this 2025 semester I have had the privileged to be creative and explore resources when making my blogs that pertain to Directed Mass Media. It's been a great learning experience and good practice for my writing and researching craft. I have also been lucky enough to meet peers with the same goals and different creative minds that also have been given the opportunity to create their own blogs. In this particular blog I will talking about two of my peer's blogs, Lacy Olivarez and Haven Williams.

Lacy Olivarez's Blog

Lacy is a Mass Communication major at Southern Arkansas University. Her interest is writing, public speaking and traveling. I love the way Lacy's blog is set up because I like how in the background image is not only herself but the people in her life that she cares about, it makes the blog look like she put her own personal life into it. Her blogs are very creative, organized and well thought it with interesting topics. I appreciate the time and effort she put into these because I know I have personally looked off her blogs in order to give myself some better help on how to start my own blogs. My personal favorite blog that she has done is Blog 5- Movies

For this blog, Lacy dissects Adam Sandler and his comedic talent and memorable movies. I love this blog because Adam Sandler is one of my favorite actors and his movies will always be funny to me as I watch them anytime, I get the chance. Lacy uses images, YouTube links, and a gif in this blog upgrading the interactivity within it for readers to enjoy. More into the blog Lacy talks about Adam Sandler's talented career, and his most iconic movies diving into not only the comedy of the movies but the characters in the movie and their development as well the deeper meaning and life lessons that the movie gives the audience watching it.

Haven Williams Blog

Haven is also a Mass Communications major at Southern Arkansas as well as a cheerleader. Her interests are cooking, sleeping, spending time with her friends and of course, cheering. I also really like Havens blog because it looks soothing and subtle, I like that the background image is brick and window. I also loved the way the blogs themselves are put together the topics are interesting, and the format of the blogs are set up neatly and organized. My favorite blog that Haven did was Blog 2- Television.

In this blog, Haven talks about one of the most popular sitcoms The Office and its upbringing. From the dry nonchalant humor, the cringey awkward silence and the office banter comedy, Haven dives deep into how it's become such an iconic TV show. Haven provides YouTube links of the show throughout the blog giving the audience good interactivity to watch while reading. Then goes into talking about the concept and style of the show which gives it its authenticity and wraps it up with a conclusion and 'funny moment' clips of the show.

To conclude my Blog, not only did I enjoy these two lady's blogs, but I enjoyed everyone's blog in the class and think collectively we did a great job. Thank you, for being creativity and inspiring me to be better with my blogs every day.
