2. Television Review

Invincible: Comic Book made into popular Tv-series!

This adult animated superhero television series created by Robert Kirkman debuted March and April 2021 only on amazon prime due to it being a prime original tv series. The show is surrounding around the main character, Mark Grayson who is the son of the strongest hero in the strongest hero in the world Omni Man. Throughout the first episode Mark battles self-doubt and impatience because all he has ever wanted to do is be a hero and as strong as his dad. By the end of the first episode the viewers learn that Mark has no idea what his dad really is. Not only did the ending of the first episode that sparked the season for great expectations, but it also went viral for the gore, action, and plot of how the worlds hero is moving with evil intent.

Why does it Stand Out?

Invincible stands out to viewers because it's not your typical superhero kid friendly tv show. There are a lot of adult themed scenes that cater to an audience of maturity, then the amount of brutality they show in the episodes lets you know it's not an Avengers Marvel movie this stuff isn't for kids to be watching. But with all of that being said it's still a superhero sci-fi fiction action show! People who love superhero themed things gravitate towards the show and people who like adult tv shows with a little edge gravitate as well, making the show for the best of both worlds.

These are just some of the popular comics that Robert Kirkman wrote with the artwork of Cory Walker. The inspiration of these comics came from classic superhero stories like Spiderman and Superman but with more of a fresh brutal edge. Some of these comics are portrayed in the tv show, obviously they can't do them all due to the mass of comics that's been created with the last one being issue #144, wrapping up Marks journey in a satisfying way. These comics are the reason the show was even created.

Awards

Invincible has received several awards since its debut. In 2021, the series won the Golden Tomato Award for Best Animated Series. It also secured the Gold Derby TV Award for Animated Program and the International Online Cinema Award (INOCA) for the Best Animated Program in the same year. In 2024, Sterling K. Brown won the Online Film & Television Association (OFTA) Television Award for Best Voice-Over Performance for his role in Invincible. Additionally, the series received nominations for Best Animated Program from both the OFTA and INOCA in 2024. Furthermore, Invincible was nominated for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance at the 76th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and for Best Animation TV Series at the 30th Critics' Choice Awards, with the ceremony scheduled for February 7, 2025.

Conclusion

To end this, I want to talk about more specific about the show and where its heading, after the season 1 finale Mark had to fight inner battles within himself mentally and physically to be better and stronger than his father while still being a boyfriend, son, superhero, and a student in class. Throughout season 2 he learns more about his father and the planet he's come from and finds out he has a little brother and continues to develop more as a man and hero. New characters are introduced, and eviler characters are presented. But the biggest thing from season 2 to take from is that there are multiple dimensions and Invincible learns that his dimension and planet is the one and only dimension where he is good and not evil. As season 3 starts and progress Mark struggles to teach his brother the right way about human life and being a superhero.
